A 2-DAY CLAY SCULPTING WORKSHOP

WHEN:  Sunday May 31st from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm &  Saturday June 6th from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

WHERE: Main & Station Second Floor, 168 Main Street, Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, B0M 1S0

WHO: This workshop is open to all ages and experience levels.

INSTRUCTOR: Jessica Sallay-Carrington

Sculptural ceramics is a diverse and complicated art form, always allowing for more room to grow and new techniques to learn. Each technique allows its own approach and each has its advantages.

In this workshop Jessica will teach how to build a mug using a slab-building technique.  By adding and removing clay, playing with texture and imagery we will turn it into a functional sculptural mug.  It is a very rewarding feeling drinking out of an interesting mug made yourself.

On the first day of this workshop everyone will build their mug.  The mugs will be fired and ready to be glazed for the second day of the workshop.  The objective for this course is for each participant to build one sculptural mug out of clay.

At the beginning of the first day, Jessica will introduce the technique with a demonstration, what is possible to do with it, and how long the process will take. Take a look at the images on this page to get an idea of some of the possibilities for this workshop.
