Main & Station is delighted to have Sydney Lancaster & Scott Smallwood here in residence with us again for the implementation of their collaboration, macromareal (a rising tide lifts all boats).

Meet Sydney & Scott at the exhibition opening and reception on Saturday, 12 August from 4pm – 8pm in the secondfloor gallery at Main & Station, 168 Main Street, Parrsboro.

The exhibition remains open until 26 August.

Kaylaira Lea : Workshops, Ceremonies, Meditations, and an Artist’s Talk

Among her many talents and experiences, Kaylaira Lea is a traveller, an artist, and a professional volunteer.   She has a visual arts degree from Kansas City Art Institute, training and career as a filmmaker in Toronto, training and work in metal sculpture, and years as a dance-theatre choreographer and director.  After years of travelling around the world as a volunteer, Kaylaira has returned to Parrsboro to spend some time reacquainting herself with old friends and to share with us some of what she has picked up along the way.

WHO

Who am I?

A hard worker. A traveller, yet a rooted person who longs for home after a while. A perfectionist with a great deal of respect for tools and work. Previous incarnations include citrus farmer, working in publishing, documentary photographer, clerk, translator, art teacher, data input worker, book salesperson, copywriter, and more.

I am an American born and trained artist who transferred my life to Israel, where I live but will always be an “immigrant.” I love to travel and interact with people and new landscapes, capturing the light and the feeling of a place, in paint, charcoal, and photographs. When a landscape becomes too familiar, I seek a new place to explore, trying to keep my vision fresh.
