“Although a strong foundational understanding of concentrated traditional study is essential, I believe that encouragement and investigation through trial and error in cross media is vital to producing an individual who is capable of reaching artistic conclusions that have a contemporary and conceptual potential. It is not enough to teach an understanding of concept, but to incorporate the contextual aspect as well.”
OBJECTIVES OF THIS WORKSHOP INCLUDE:
To practice engaging and developing stronger connections within our present landscape(s) through various creative exercises and practices.
To experiment using non-traditional methods like collecting, sound recording, writing and verbal storytelling.
Although traditional observational drawing/painting is an essential tool for every artist, participants will explore methods of bridging daily art making and non traditional methods together.
Participants will not stress the outcome of creating a final “product” but rather produce development bridges that encourage strong daily organic artistic practice.
