On Saturday, December 14th at 4 p.m. at Main & Station’s secondfloor gallery don’t miss the book launch and exhibition of original artwork for Krista Wells’ latest publication, DOG-EARED JOURNALS – art and observations from a dog living in Portugal.
Inspired by her frequent travels in Portugal, the story is told through the eyes of Wells’ alter ego, a street dog and artist named Ruca. Ruca lives in a quiet village on the south coast of Portugal and the book incorporates details and illustrations from journals including sketches, paintings, and anecdotes.
DOG-EARED JOURNALS shows readers the world through Ruca’s eyes as he navigates the cobbled streets and rugged clifftops of his life. His perspective is fresh, four-legged, and often funny.
Each page is lavishly illustrated using a variety of techniques including pen and ink, watercolour, coloured pencil, photography, relief printing and more. Part travelogue, part artist’s journal, this book will appeal to artists, travelers, animal-lovers and those who simply have a curiosity about the world.
DOG-EARED JOURNALS ($19.95 paperback) will be available through amazon.com in early 2014. In the meantime it is available at Main & Station, directly from the author or through her website, www.kristawells.ca Digital copies ($9.99) may be purchased through www.blurb.ca.
