The Parrsboro vernissage and opening reception of the Nova Scotia Printmakers travelling exhibition A Sense Of Belonging will be on Sunday, 1 November from 2 pm – 5 pm in Main & Station’s secondfloor gallery
In this exhibition twenty-five printmakers from around the province and beyond explore the theme of Nova Scotia’s local culture through diverse printmaking techniques on paper. Together these works make up a colourful, varied picture, while separately they each tell their own contained story.
More than an exhibition, this is also a print exchange in which each participating printmaker receives a full set of prints and so gets to hold on to the entire colourful interpretation of their home or adopted province.
A number of artists will be present at the reception to talk about the project and to answer questions including Julie Rosvall, Suzanne Gauthier, Maria Doering, and Bonnie Baker, the president of the NS Printmakers.
The exhibit will remain on display until 28 November.
The Nova Scotia Printmakers is an informal body of professional printmakers and individuals with a more general interest in the printmaking media. Members share a common concern for printmaking and the desire to promote Nova Scotia prints and printmakers. Founded in 1988, NS Printmakers connects printmakers in the region, educates the public on both traditional and experimental forms of print media, and organizes regular exhibits.
