Prairie Songstress Belle Plaine Announces

Crustacean Elation Maritimes Tour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 22 2015 (Regina, SK) – Belle Plaine and her longtime collaborators Jeremy Sauer and Elizabeth Curry will take their classic country, swing and folk music performance on the road at the end of May for a month-long, 22-show tour to urban and rural communities in the Maritimes. The trio toured parts of the region last year and were enamored with the people, the culture, and the crustaceans. They want to return to play music, share the Saskatchewan culture and of course to eat a lot of fresh in-season lobster and mussels. Now they are excited to announce their tour, including their first-time visit to New Brunswick. The show is for audiences who enjoy artists such as Emmylou Harris, Patsy Cline, Jill Barber & Rose Cousins.

Stu&Jess Productions has made it their mission to present talented, young singers in unique, non-traditional venues. “L’Heure Espagnole” marks the third collaboration of Stuart Martin and Jessica Derventzis, the creative team behind Stu&Jess Productions, their first success having been with Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Medium” in the fall of 2013, which was presented in a re-envisioned church. Their production Ravel’s comedic classic,  “L’Heure Espagnole”, will be given a modern twist in the upper floor warehouse of the Techno-Lith paper company in Montreal (aka the New City Gas complex).

In Residence: For Body and Light

For Body and Light is a contemporary dance company directed by choreographer Stéphanie Morin-Robert in collaboration with Ian Ferrier of Wired On Words.  Linnea Gwiazda, Allison Burns, Danika Cormier, Marie-Pier Gilbert, Marie-France Jacques, and Joachim Yensen-Martin are among the dancers who collaborate.

In 2013 For Body and Light wowed Parrsborians with their first performance of Coming and Going on the secondfloor of Main & Station. The dance-music-poetry performance which was created in 2013 while Nonesuch artists in residence at Main & Station was inspired by the local environment and lore and especially by the tides coming and going in the Minas Basin. Following the performance one viewer exclaimed excitedly that it was so vivid she could “see the barnacles on their legs“.
